The Cañadón de la Escondida-Las Heras block is located in the southern San Jorge basin and contains a sizeable mature oil field. From 1999 to 2012, the block was operated by Repsol-YPF. The government expropriated the asset when YPF was nationalized in 2012.Crude production from the block is piped east to terminals on the Atlantic coast.
