Strathcona Resources is further consolidating its position in the Clearwater oil sands region, through the Cdn$800 million acquisition of Cenovus's Tucker thermal SAGD asset. This deal adds 20,000 b/d of bitumen production and is a logical addition to Strathcona's portfolio. The privately backed company has already acquired Lindbergh and Orion, with Orion located just east of Tucker. Strathcona will look to realise operational synergies to lower costs of the two fields.
