Druzhba is the heart of the Transneft-operated pipeline network. The pipeline was completed in 1964 and has been the major pipeline supplying Russian crude within the country, and for export to the neighbouring countries and Western Europe. The pipeline celebrated 60 years of operation in 2024.Since the mid-2000s, the Russian government diversified export routes by performing pipeline upgrades, extensions, and new builds.
