Morocco sounds out its gas supply
Report summary
Morocco has few oil and gas reserves and relies heavily on energy imports. In August 2016, Sound Energy made a significant discovery on its Tendrara licence. So far, 400 bcf of commercial gas reserves have been proved and this is expected to increase with further appraisal. Development of Tendrara is expected to utilise the Gazdoduc Maghreb Europe (GME) pipeline to feed power stations adjacent to the pipeline. If the reserves are increased substantially the development hinges on finding a viable market for the gas and the stability of the currently favourable fiscal regime.
