This deal sparks a new era of creative thinking for deal structures in the UKCS. BP has been very accommodating by structuring the deal so that EnQuest pays the initial and decommissioning consideration from future cash flow generated by the acquired assets. We could see further innovative deals structured in this manner to unlock mature North Sea M&A in 2017.
