The North Sumatra Block A PSC (Block A Aceh) was historically an oil producing area in northeast Sumatra. Oil production ceased in 2001 and workovers in 2010 were not successful in restarting commercial production. Following the entry of Medco Energi and Premier Oil in 2006, a Plan of Development (POD) to develop gas was submitted. The plan was to supply gas domestically by developing three fields: Alur Siwah, Alur Rambong, and Julu Rayeu.
