Subba and Luhais are adjacent oil fields, located in the southern province of Basra, about 90 kilometres west of Basra city. Subba lies north of Luhais and extends into Thi Qar province. Luhais was discovered in the 1970s and brought onstream for a few years prior to the Iran-Iraq war, but remained shut-in from 1980 until 1999. It was producing around 25,000 b/d prior to the 2003 war. Subba produced briefly in the late 1980s but was shut-in during 1991. Subba restarted production in December 2017.
