The successful delivery of first oil at Chevron’s Anchor field is the latest chapter, proving that 20k-psi completions technology has unlocked the next frontier play: the ultra-high-pressure (UHP) Paleogene. Two years ago, we had a look at what the first ten years of production from GoM Paleogene reservoirs revealed. At that time, we concluded that “the oil-weighted [Paleogene] play will account for 37% of production” by 2030. Perhaps we even undershot the amount of growth.
