Tight oil type curves: Lower 48 economic rankings
Report summary
In today's volatile oil market, many are asking: how do US tight oil plays stack up? Do the economic rankings reshuffle as the price dips lower? And what, if any, areas still make sense to drill? We dug into our Key Play type curves to find out. We calculated key economic metrics for 125 areas covering the major tight oil plays under three flat oil price scenarios: $35/bbl, $45/bbl and $55/bbl. Our analysis includes NPVs, P/I ratios, and payback periods for each scenario alongside well cost and productivity metrics.
