Back River gold mine project
Report summary
The Back River gold project, consisting of the Goose and George sites, is planned as a combined open pit and underground mining operation. The Goose site includes the six main deposits-Llama, Llama extension, Umwelt, Echo, Nuvuyak, and Goose Main deposits and some other showings while the George site comprises the LCP North (LCPn), LCP South (LCPs), Locale 1 (Loc1), Locale 2 (Loc2), GH and Slave (SL) deposits. The latest Updated Feasibility Study (UFS) in 2021, however, focuses on the development of the six main deposits at the Goose site. In the UFS, the mine life was extended to 15 years from 11.8 years in the 2015 Feasibility Study. Open pit mining will commence two years ahead of mill commissioning to provide stockpiles of mill feed and then stop in year 12 with a strip ratio of 10 (waste:ore). Underground mining will begin at the Umwelt deposit in year -1 with underground ore production at the deposit to start in year 1 and last until year 15.
