Report summary
Booming Chinese and Indonesian stainless, and perceived tightening supply of nickel is behind the fervour that pushed nickel prices up to a 12-month high. Yet the ramp up in Indonesian NPI indicates a nickel surplus is building in China. Imported NPI is being held back from the market to cover the anticipated shortfall next year, as the Indonesian ore export ban bites harder and Chinese NPI decreases.
