Gruvberget iron ore mine
Report summary
Gruvberget was an open pit mine in the Svappavaara region of Sweden, 40 kilometres southeast of Kiruna. When it first started operations in May 2010 it was LKAB's first new mine in 50 years. It mines 2Mtpa of raw ore that is processed into 1.4Mtpa of pellets. Gruvberget exhausted its reserves in 2018 and ceased operating.
