Koolan Island iron ore mine
Report summary
Since Kooan Island re-opened in April 2019, production has continued to rise, and costs have fallen. With reserves of 13 Mt grading 65.5% Fe, the mine is expected to operate for another 4-5 years. Life-of-mine production is fully committed under existing long-term contracts, and production includes fines. Production is expected to peak beyond 2024 at 4 Mtpa before declining and closing in 2027 unless additional reserves can be defined.
