The La Colorada property has been mined historically by both underground and open pit methods, prior to the current mining operations. Initially between 1860 and 1916 and then latterly between 1994 and 2002. It is located approximately 53km southeast of the state capital, Hermosillo in Mexico. La Colorada is comprised of the Gran Central, El Crestón and Veta Madre deposits. In 2018, the La Colorada/Gran Central pit was mined out and the mine began transitioning to the next stage of production at the El Crestón pit where operations continue.
