Report summary

The Russian Copper Company (RMK) is a dominant player in Russian copper and operates a number of copper mining, smelting and downstream subsidiaries in Russia and Kazakhstan.  These include Karabash smelter, Kyshtym refinery, and a number of copper-zinc mines, including Ormet (Barsuchiy Log and Djusinskoe) and Aleksandrinsky. It was announced in early 2007 that RMK intended to construct a zinc smelter at Orsk, close to the Kazakhstan border, starting construction in 2007 with commissioning...
