Asset Report
Haynesville shale gas unconventional play
Report summary
The Haynesville is a deep, high-temperature, and over-pressured dry gas formation in northwest Louisiana and east Texas. Well costs tend to be higher than other Lower 48 gas plays due to sub-surface conditions and depths of up to 15,000 feet. Haynesville activity peaked in 2011 at over 1,000 wells but slowed due to a low gas price. Activity began to rebound in 2017 driven by private equity-backed operators. Longer laterals and enhanced completions have re-defined play economics.
