2019 was a quiet year in Atlantic Canada for exploration. Two exploration wells were spud and just three parcels were leased in the November sale. On the development side, an expansion project at White Rose is steaming ahead and Terra Nova announced a project to extend the field's life. From a safety and environmental perspective, the year was disappointing with multiple incidents and spills. Behind the scenes, it was a busy year for project approvals and submissions. Three exploration projects were approved and three submitted to C-NLOPB. This sets up an exciting 2020 as companies begin drilling to meet the $Cdn4 billion of work commitments made in previous leasing rounds.
