The super-giant Marun and nearby Shadegan and Kupal fields are in the prolific Zagros Basin in southwest Iran, near the city of Ahvaz. Marun is Iran's third largest oil field, after Ahvaz and Gachsaran, with 45 billion barrels of oil initially in place.
