Asset Report
Aguablanca Closed nickel operation
Report summary
Production at Aguablanca recommenced in August 2012 after activity was suspended in 2010 following heavy rain at the site. Shortly after the restart, the mine encountered further pit stability issues on the south wall which restricted access to certain areas of the pit. While then owners, Lundin, continued to assess its options, the mine ultimately ceased production in 2015. Lundin Mining subsequently divested the mine to Valoriza Mineria. Valoriza were continuing to asses the potential to restart operations once all permits are received and metal prices are such that profitable operations can be achieved.
